iPhone's Next Generation of Apps

Since Apple (AAPL) launched its new iPhone 3G last month, independent developers have been cranking out new software to run on the popular devices. Now, there are more than 1,000 applications available from the iTunes App store. Some are free. Others cost anything from a few dollars to $1,000.

The new applications let iPhone owners do all sorts of things. You can play games, including the digital version of the old Labyrinth game. You can use Home Findr to locate houses in almost any neighborhood. You can even use the free Epocrates drug reference to check out information on prescription pharmaceuticals. Here's a look at some of the offerings.
